I completed the same pan work as you.
My new non-high pressure pump runs at those same levels and only in high temps at idle show a lower 45 psi or so.
Was my timing cover leaking before the pump replacement? No. Was the higher pressure a result of a now new leak? I don’t know.

Or a SB Ford that twists distributor drive shafts and or destroys drive gear. Just went through that a couple months ago on my own car.
Or the roll pin on the dist gear shears off. Been there done that.

In theory, (I love to live there,) you need 10 lbs pressure for each 1000 rpm. My Moroso pump comes with three springs, I have the 70 psi spring as I plan on wickin up the 489 hopefully to 7000 rpm, but it might only make it 6500, as the AFR heads are the 265's, but now fully ported. I'de be shouting Hallelujah for that oil pressure, because it tell you a whole bunch about the clearances in your engine, in your case healthy.

Or in the case of a slant six, strip the oil pump drive gear.
Dude LMAO Slant 6's could run without OP for years ! Back in the day we would find a victim, drain the oil and antifreeze put a cinder block on the go pedal and take bets on how long it would take to come unglued :rotflmao:

The oil pressure numbers look good. I would hope that new parts would increase the pressure.

As for pressure, the only possible downside is that more pressure means more resistance. More resistance means less power to the wheels. But the the power loss would be so small that you would need Steven Hawking to figure out how much loss there is. The numbers are so small that no one else would be able to figure it out.

On that topic: Your car gets better fuel mileage when you go on a diet.

It gets better mileage when there is 10 gallons of fuel in the tank rather than 12 gallons of fuel.

Oh, and if you drive with your headlights on - you guessed it - worse fuel mileage due to the extra resistance on the alternator.

My concerns with running excessive oil pressure would be holding the bypass valve open in the oil filter so you are no longer filtering the oil going to your bearings. I also would wonder about, distributor and cam gear wear and windage. I'd try running a thinner oil. I'd also see what pump and relief spring I installed. If it is a high volume pump, another concern I would have is how much oil volume is blowing past the relief valve possibly aeration of the oil. I doubt it would ever add enough air.to be a problem, but I'd still wonder about it. I doubt at your pressures you are doing any harm, but I also don't see where you are doing anything beneficial.

My truck runs at those pressures. I see 60 at start up and then it drops to 40-50 when hot. I'm running 10-40 oil. I plugged the bypass on the oil filter housing years ago with aa 1/4 screw in plug.
