HELP! Keep it stock or go a little aftermarket

Installed the new parts except the tvs that goes into manifold. The whole in the edelbrock manifold is bigger than the part I ordered. I'm gonna see if they have another part or maybe I'll get an adapter. I hooked everything up the way it shows on my air cleaner diagram. @Craig 85 you said to hook one thing up at a time, but to make one thing right I literally had to take it all apart. But the vacuum hoses going to the back of the carb are correct now too. The only unhooked is the efe. Everything else is good. And you know what, it started great when I drove it the other day! Very responsive. I'm digging it.

@Craig 85 I had a question. The plug that goes into the back of the tcs solenoid, mine had a piece of something on the old solenoid that disintegrated when I touched it. What's on yours?

I'd do what ever you want to it, but do it in such a way you can always go back to original if you wanted to down the road.

@Craig 85 I had a question. The plug that goes into the back of the tcs solenoid, mine had a piece of something on the old solenoid that disintegrated when I touched it. What's on yours?

My truck was missing this part when I bought it. The TCS I got from the motorhome motor had some type of screen (similar to an A/C orifice tube) that encased the metal nipple on the back of the valve, but it fell apart when I went to install it. I can only assume it keeps debris out of the back side of the valve.

Yes, in fact, I only have the black 2 prong connector on mine. Mine's missing the yellow surround.

This is a factory EGR manifold which you don't have on your's, but it shows where that OEM ported vacuum switch would go near the thermostat. I would be leery about a stock intake. When I was going to sell my '79 K15, it wouldn't pass smog, due to a warped intake. The smog referee let me switch to an Edelbrock Performer #3701 (EGR).

With a non-EGR intake you may luck out. Mine was warped near the #8 cylinder, possibly due to the EGR location.

I'll provably just get an adapter then and put the vacuum port where my heater hose is and run the hose to the water pump.

I see the entire problem in the second photo, pull out all the original stuff along with that 350 and go BIG BLOCK! Problem solved!!!

Correct assumption. Just put a small piece of foam in there to keep wasps from plugging it up.
