Also, I have an ancient set of headers from a '70 Nova and they look like they are shaped about the same.

They came with my '78 Nova, but it looks like they are shaped to clear the earlier years, around the steering box. I don't think they make headers dedicated to the '75-'79 body style?
They don't show a specific header for 75-79 Nova because they are actually a Camaro front end so they just include the Nova in a Camaro listing instead, they also have two styles, one for conventional steering and one for a close ratio steering box, sounds like you have the close ratio steering box style, and that applies only to the Camaro but either one fits the Nova, I learned this looking for headers for my 75, Hedman is what I'll be using on my Nova too..

I'm almost positive they are for an earlier Nova. Even though they were new and unused when I got them with the car, I think the previous owner had acquired them from someone else. The rear primaries on the driver side were dented in for more steering box clearance... except the '78 has no steering box there.

I ordered a set of headers off e-bay and they look nice . Took off the old truck headers and started putting on the new headers on Friday. finished getting them installed on Monday . what a pain in the a$$ that was none of the head flanges was right if I got one bolt in a flange the other bolt hole would be to hi or to low and have to be pried on to place to get that bolt in . the # 7 tube had to be heated just to get it flat up to the head it would be touching at the bottom
and have a 1/8 in gape at the top . so all in all these headers are fricking junk and when I contacted them they asked what I was putting them on .so I told them a 72 Camaro with a 454 . they come back that in 72 Camaro did not have a 454 so that is why they did not fit right and they did not owe me anything .I didn't want anything from them .

Wow, those are built like my ancient headers. A flange for each primary.

I remember splitting the flanges on cheap headers before to make them bolt up, lol. I wonder who makes those???..
