I have a similar story Dave, I got a regular corded drill about 6 years ago and finally threw it out the other day. I used the **** out of that drill for years and I think I only paid 9.99 for it.
I have the half inch Earthquake and it kicks ass, I want the 3/8's air ratchet now.
Update on my other harbor freight air tools:
The cutoff wheel- Use it all the time, even their brand of disks which I expected to lead to a visit to the E.R. but none exploded yet.
Pneumatic drill- Not much use, I honed the cylinders on my big block with it and used it to drill out studs on an old upper ball joint. It works fine I just use an electric Makita now because my compressor sucks.
Angle die grinder- I have consistently used the **** out of this thing and highly recommend one. All the different things they sell to chuck in this thing work great too. The quick change out pad thing is awesome, you can screw a fiber pad into it and remove old gasket and in seconds put a sanding disk on it so you can sharpen a punch.
Air chisel- I got this for one job but I use it alot now, its saved my ass a few times. Just recently my brother and I were fighting a unibearing out of his Jeeps front axle and this thing saved the day.
D/A sander- As far as I know its still alive and kicking, I loaned it to my dad and replaced it with a more expensive Campbell Hausfeld one. He's been sanding on his 77 consistantly with no issues.
HVLP spray gun- I originally got the purple one and loved it, I sprayed the hood and tailgate on my 454SS with it. I also loaned it to my Dad and he likes it so I replaced it with an ingersol rand gun from tractor supply co. I threw the ingersol rand in the trash after trying to spray primer on my Impala's hood. Now I have harbor freights new spray gun and love it.
21 gallon air compressor- I got it just to assemble a big block and have been trying to kill it ever since so I could get something better. Its been abused since day one, the air intake filter broke off before I ever used it so its never even had one. I run it constantly without letting it cool off to the point you can smell the oil cooking and it just keeps going.
