I can tell you right now, the two I have doesn't like to stay locked, not that I've gotten crushed under a car yet, because I always put a 3rd device under (gantry, floor jack), but they're a real PIA sometimes to get locked in, but I got those several years ago.

I've got a set of the 6 tons bought several years ago and they seem to work fine. Granted I haven't used them all that much to find out, but they seem to work and lock in very good.

I have 4 of the gray 6-tons and I’ve used them extensively on slightly uneven gravel driveways...sweet

Anybody here have jack stands that still have the labels on 'em?

I've got several of the faded orange 6-ton models but have no idea if they're the ones in question. I haven't ever had any problems with mine locking/catching the notch in the extension.

I have some gray ones but no labels on them so how do I know if they are the ones in the recall? It wouldn't break my heart to return them since I just picked up a nice used set of 6 ton Walkers.

I didn't buy mine at HF. There's just something about being under a vehicle and dependikng on HF tools to save my life. Lol

Now seeing this I'm glad I didn't buy them.

Same story here. I never had the desire to buy their jack stands. Ever. They sell some very nice tools, but at the same time, they sell some real garbage. Yeah I've got their 2-ton engine hoist and it could hurt me if it ever drops an engine, but I don't lay under it. Something like jack stands, it's not worth the gamble.

Please note, I'm not trying to bad mouth Harbor Freight at all. They do sell a lot of items that are very very good for the cost involved and I will continue to shop there.

If you've had them for a while they're not part of the recall. I have a set I bought in 2011 and the item # on those is P38847. The ones @HotRodPC has are the same, he bought his before I got mine. If you need a pic for comparison I can post one later.

Mine are so old they are definitely not a part of the recall.

Had these for like 5+ years. Been using them regularly in my gravel driveway. Had trucks sitting on these stands for days at time. Guess I was lucky. Never again will I trust a harbor freight jack stand. Can anyone recommend a quality jack stand?

After seeing this it makes you think cinder blocks would be better. and I am not advocating their use nor do I like them.
