Been pondering getting a Square body 73-91 4x4 Crew Cab Single or Dually and throwing in a duramax/allison combo. Figured a site dedicated to these trucks might bring some experience to my dream.

Any body rocking this combo?

I know it is the more common route, And the Cummins is a great engine don`t get me wrong, but Even at the expense of it, I would like to put a nice quiet Isuzu in there . I am more familiar with it. My neighbor put a duramax/allison in his Hummer with good success, and my brother used to have a highly modified LMM in one of his trucks. I know of good people locally in my area who are very familiar with this engine.

Do it. You'll be the first here to do it. There's been several convesions and upgrades, Vortec motors, LS motors, Cummins etc, but not a Dmax as of yet.

Had a neighbor wreck his duramax so he took the drivetrian from it and put it in his 86 cc 4x4. That thing was awesome, he tried to sell it a while back for aRound $15k. I don't know if he ever did haven't been home in a while but he had it setup nice. I say do it.

Tell him you want a $500 break if he don't keep the camper. That one appears to have to have the good powertrain, Dana 60, NP205, 14b FF. Or course you don't care about the SM465 since you're going to do an Alli conversion.
