Gorilla spray for headliner

I bought some Gorilla spray glue, for gluing my new headliner down to the pad. Now I see that it says on the can: "not recommended for headliners."

Grrr.

Can anyone think of why that might be? Anyone used it anyway, and had good results?

It might be something to do with heat. The headliners and roof get hot.

I would just use some food 3m adhesive spray.

Glues for headliners are often formulated so they don't become "crunchy" over time and not bleed through the fabric.

hmm, I hadn't considered the heat and bleed-through issues. The latter shouldn't matter, since I'm using a faux leather material that's pretty thick, but the heat could be. Maybe I'd better get something else. If this stuff looks good, I may use it on my door panel, too; I'll bet I could use the Gorilla product on those and be fine.

3M headliner glue works great.
You can but it just about anywhere.

I just did this on an 85. Permatex 27828 is recommended by headliner professionals and should work really well but it's 25 bucks a can. I used 3M 90 adhesive spray. It's like 3M Super 77 spray but much stronger and the Wal store had it for about $10. It works fine. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I noticed that when I pulled my old headliner out, that uit looked at though there was some sort of tape holding it to the cab roof. Is that some kind of double sided tape?
