Whatever you get, make sure you get LT tires and not P metric. I can't speak for this particular tread pattern, but I have had some Goodyear Duratracs and they have been very good. They will be a lot more expensive than the ones you posted above. They do have a classic look to them also. I would agree with earlier posts that Cooper makes good tires and Mastercraft (which is made by Cooper) has some good tires at a reasonable price usually. Another option if it is just a country cruiser is Treadwright. They are a remolded tire. I have had several sets of them on our field pickups and are a decent option for offroad/country use.

The truck isn't a daily, just a once in a while cruiser on the gravel roads around the county.

I am more interested in how the tire looks than performs. These goodyears can be had for less than $100 each.

Honestly, I'd get bias ply tires if they didn't flat spot so easily, cause they all come in awesome old school tread patterns.

Check out Power King tires. I have a set and love them. I've never had troubles with them flat spotting either, they are always round within 1/4 mile of driving.

Agreed, the Duratracs are leaps and bounds better than the Wrangler. The Wrangler sold now is not the same Wrangler from the past.

I want to add the white stripe to any tire that I end up with.

They mount between the tire bead and rim when the tire is installed. A set of 4 can be had for $70

Wow, it's true old stuff comes back. The first set I ever helped put on was for my brothers 51 fored 2door custom, flathead V8 3 on the tree. He got sandwiched and they put a junk yard "leaded"trunk loid and a "leaded hood on it, painted it a refrigerator white. Then we painted the wheels black and put the whitewalls on it. Heated the front coils and got it DOWN!!! This was in 1959, I was 10, he was 14. Been a minute!!!

Never had an issue. If you drive like an adult, I get easily 40k+ on the cars. Usually 50k+. Its why I like them. I tried one of their 80k tires and its main drawback (like all of the higher mileage tires) was they were too hard....ride, traction, etc suffered. P4's I run all day long and love them.

Never pay retail. Too many online places to compete. My truck tires listed at $140ea - I got them for $103 - delivered - and the ride is awesome.

To each his own.

Not to hi-jack this thread or anything, but how does the cost delta play out when you go to mount them? Road hazard, stems, lifetime rotation/balance, that sort of thing?

Local place I use (I do because they deal in all rims - especially the 26" things that require nicer-newer equip that doesn't mar) - they get me $25-35/wheel. There's a tire chain nearby that offer all the road hazard warranties, etc but their quote on the same tires was $720. I could almost buy a second set.

I just ordered new P4's for my Subaru - with mounting/balancing (local place) I'll have about $500 in the set. Same set out the door at the local chain was $740. Just my preference how I do it.

fwiw....if I know I'm going to need tires next year, I will order them end of summer. Pirelli only imports so many, so there are clearances. I have literally bought sets for < half price.

But when they're not available, I still use Dunlops or Coopers. But thats cars - OP is talking trucks. lol
