OBD1-OBD1.5 gm astro van astro van comes on. Jumpered the ALDL to get the ABS codes. Got code 33, which is missing signal right rear signal. Looked all over this thing in the and couldnt find any abs wiring at all. Is this one of the abs sensors thats built in the rearend?

If you jumpered it to get codes, then you probably got an engine code 33.

The van doesn't have rear sensors. It just uses the VSS in the tranny tailhousing.

Yep, I'm thinking he pulled an Engine code too. If its OBD 1 that tells me its pre 96 and pretty certain it only has Rear ABS and will NOT have individual wheel sensros as Andy said. But, it might very well, and likely has the single Rear ABS sensor in the rear differentrial. If so, you'd see what will look like a toothed sprocket on or around the ring gear or the carrier housing. All it can really detect is that both rear wheels have stopped spinning and the ring gear has abrubptly stopped moving.

I pulled a engine code 33 also. Yes there is a ABS 33 code. Its on all data. My teacher told the person they have to take to GM and use GM scantool. Must be one of those has to be used with a GM scantool. The van belongs to another teacher in the school.

IIRC there is no codes on ABS Brakes in OBD1 vehicles.

You don't need a GM scan tool, just a basic scanner.

well if that is the case what is your excuse?
