I have a fuel question. Weird situation a lot of mechanics hadn’t experienced.

I have an 1985, 1500, long bed with a 305 motor that has dual fuel tanks. I have replaced the swap valve and fuel pump and had the carburetor reworked.

Now, the problem I’m having is when pulling fuel from the driver side tank it’s dumping too much fuel also fuel is backing out of the fuel door of the truck, but when I switch to passenger side it’s starving for fuel. And it has fuel in the tank….

Any responses would be appreciated!

It sounds like you have the return lines swapped on the valve or the valve is not switching properly. Make sure that the feed and return are going to the same tank in both switched positions(preferably by manually checking to make sure you have a continuous flow through the valve at only one position. Pics help. Also specifics help. Did you have a three port pump? Did you have a three port or 6 port switching valve? Did you make sure you swapped everything over exactly as it was from old to new? Why did you replace those things.. was it because of this problem or for a different problem?
