I have a 1984 Jimmy with a salvage title. It is my understanding the frame is 1976. Can't figure out numbers on driver's side of frame. Can anyone decipher these numbers. Picture attached.

thats not a 70s vin fragment
nor a VIN from a 80s
but does your frame horns resemble the 80s or 70s? If its 80s, it may be the original frame. salvage title doesnt mean its the wrong frame, body would be more likely the changed part

Numbers on the side of the rail are part numbers, date codes and supplier info.

The partial VIN will be on the top of the upper flange of the frame rail under the passenger compartment and will be in the format of

Model year
Final assembly location
Serial portion of VIN

Like EF123456
Where E = 1984
F=Flint

or

6F123456
Where 6 = 1976
F = Flint

If everything is original the last six of the partial VIN on the frame will match the last six of the full VIN on the dash.

Good catch I thought this was top down, but the holes and the "width" would be far too wide to be the top of a blazer rail
