Possibly was in an accident at some point. Also could have been from that loose crossmember. Whatever it was though someone new about it and they just piled on the weld and obviously didn’t help it or fix it lol.

I would grind all that garbage off and start new and repair the crack correctly and plate it. I would also consider an upgraded engine crossmember, and a frame brace kit for the drivers side, the bolt on for sure and possibly the weld on too. And make sure all the rivets on those crossmembers are tight possibly even just replace them all with grade 8 bolts.

Make sure you inspect your frame around your steering box, that’s a very common problem and that’s what that frame brace kit prevents.

Or they twisted it up real good or maybe even jumped the truck. That's not common at all.

LOL looks like Ray Charles welded that with his feet! Grind that out and plate it.

X2. Fix it correctly..

My frame had the notorious crack near the steering box. I ground it back, plated the frame and welded it up.

I mean, they didn't go full blown Fall Guy obviously or they'd have lost the axles and spring hangers too, but they still coulda caught at least a little air. A couple feet or so.

I've already told the story of a guy I SEEN in real life jumping a Ford Bronco. He caught about 5 feet of air. It looked so bad ass, until noticing the after affects. Both pinion gears pointed down toward the ground and both driveshafts hanging from the transfer case dragging the ground.

I saw some kid in a college parking lot in an 80's ford bronco with a coil spring front end. I was just minding my own business in the parking lot and these kids are watching this other kid in the bronco and I looked up when I heard him slappin the throttle... THE KID WAS TRYING TO DO A WHEELIE:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao: He'd just slap the throttle and let it bounce and once the nose would start coming back up he would slap the throttle again to get more momentum for the next bounce, like some damn kind of redneck lowrider with hydraulics, except it was a coil sprung ford bronco lolol. Cracks me up to this day haha.

He did end up getting a decent wheelie going and nothing was immediately or obviously broken so it wasn't the perfect ending but oh well lolol

Wow, looks like a mud dobber did some welding on your frame. I'm restoring a 74 K10 which had the usual frame cracks around the steering box mounting area. TIG welded the cracks the MIG welded plates all around that area to stiffen it up. No problem, and I'm not a mud dobber.
