No better sound in the world than a wide open four barrel carb !

Wine I was a teenager my father had a brand new 74 Chevy caprice convertible with the 454,
Every time we drove it we’d flip the lid so we could hear that glorious sound
Sometimes we’d forget to put it back over and he’d get peeved

We also figured out how to unhook the speedo cable so he would ask where we had been last night to put 130 miles on his car when town was only 12 miles away

We were just careful to stop at a gas station and fill it while watching the gas gauge to get it back right where it was before we borrowed the car

In the early 80s we lived in a location where to get to town you had to drive thru a ghetto-y part of town and there was always lots of pedestrians loitering in the street
And honking the horn didn’t work

My brother had a 76ish K-10 Stepside with the fulltime 4wd and a 400 4 bbl

The loitering pedestrians didn’t pay any attention to a horn, but they’d sure get the hell out of the road when they heard the trans kickdown and the roar of the secondaries
