I mean....i just wanted 1 question answered about my 460.

Was swapping out trash can carb for the 1405. Car has the PCV conected to a spacer under the carb. Ive never seen this. The intake has a cut out in it that matches up with said spacer.

I'm pretty sure I can just ditch it. The new gasket / 1" spacer required for clearence should seal ot off. And then run the PCV to the front of the eddy carb like normal. But I figured one of the guys in the BBF forum would know right off.

Oh.... and the heat riser tube for the choke was attached here....was rusted clean off...

The top bolt also snapped off with next to zero torque. Safe to just quicksteel it closed?

I think that spacer serves a valid purpose. I'd leave it alone. The older cars probably didn't have that spacer, but heat soak or something like that caused them to add the spacer.

I'd make or buy a plate and gasket, I wouldn't physically block off the holes.

So....im going to be adding a different spacer for the heat soak issues. I actually have to have a 1" spacer for the linkage to clear the intake anyways. Its kinda tricky...if its leas than 1" linkages dont clear....but if its more than 1" I run into to air cleaner / Hood clearence issues.

I just did not know if there was a benifit to running the PCV there as opposed to the front of the carb like my truck.

And...as far as that plate....i snapped the bolt clean off in the intake. I'll eventually get it off the proper way. quick steel was just a temp fix idea.

I doubt you'll find a spacer that has the vacuum ports built in like the factory one has.

Well, while I was parking the wifes Ranger tonight I went to put it in park and :

Bolt fell down on the floorboard, and :

It was still in reverse, and I shut it off in reverse!

Auto truck, BTW.

Found where it went, found a T30, and it's back together.

The wife would have had a real problem remembering it was in reverse when she started it tomorrow, so a must fix for tonight.

Simple fix, but WTH?

Someones not taking care of them.

Just about every vehicle ive owned had MINIMUM 150k on the clock.
(Except my burb, she had 330k on her, but the motor had/had 30k. )

My 3500 has 222k, my Yukon has 245k, my suburban 299k, one of my blazers has 210k. My 86 is the only young pup, with 76k.
I drove a buddies suburban one time, the odometer read 498k, and he said it had never been rebuilt. Body was crap, but it ran great.
Cant help but love a 350 chevy. Best engine ever made in my opinion.

In the 1970s it was a rare find to come across a sbc with much more than 120k, and it was usually not in real good shape.At least in my neck of the woods this was the case.My dads 73 Impala knocked at 140k even with 3000 mile oil changes done since new.
