Hello everyone.
My name is Joe from Michigan. It is a new year and I am joining my 2nd ever Auto forum.
This is going to be very new territory for me because I am very rusty on my very limited knowledge of GM trucks. My 2 hobby cars are of a completely different types and make. Dare I say I have a Ford/Shelby hot rod addiction. I have a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and a 1966 Ford Ranchero. Just an FYI. Larry Shinoda designed the 69/70 Mustangs. He previously designed Corvettes.
So why join a GM Truck Forum?
I grew up a GM brat. My mother worked for GM. My first car was a 1970 Nova 2 door triple black. My second car was a 1975 Pontiac Le Mans with a 350 Rocket engine swap.
However, my most fondly remembered vehicle will always be my Blue 1981 Chevy Silverado C20 Camper Special 3/4 ton truck. It was 2x4 and had a 454 with 400 trans. I bought it used around 1992ish. I absolutely loved this truck. I used it for many different jobs as a young man. Jobs like towing boats all over the state of Michigan. I beat the absolute hell out of it and it never once let me down. The truck was key to many life altering, and amazing adventures and it even literally saved my life at one time. I went to the Woodstock 1994 concert in this truck. I have missed it, and regretted selling since the day I let it go in 1995.

My current Daily Driver that I bought new in 2005 is a Dodge Durango. It has held up great accept the rust is becoming it's death nail. It has 96K miles and I will drive it until I can't. I have 2 very nice Hot Rods, and ZERO desire to keep up with any Joneses. I really dislike the idea of debt, and buying a new truck. This isn't for me. No car payments for me. I realize I will need to replace my daily driver in the next few years. I would like to replace it with a square body C20/K20 or variant. I would prefer 81-87ish. Something In great shape that I can repair when it breaks and not need a computer to do so.

This is why I joined this forum. To start my search for my next daily driver. To expand my knowledge of these great trucks. I may not have much knowledge to contribute specifically to GM products but I have years of experience hot rodding, restoring, modifying, and building my Ford Hot Rods. I have turned every nut, bolt, and screw on them, they are not perfect but they will get your blood going and your butt moving.

I am looking forward to learning a lot. I will try to help others when I can. Sorry if my cars offend.

Thanks everyone.
I have a few questions. What is the requirement to list an item for sale? Is there a time requirement, or post limit a new member must achieve?
I ask because a few years ago I inherited an all newly rebuilt NP205. I do not know if I will have a future use for it. My dream truck would be an 81-87 K20 of some type. I prefer a Camper Special Silverado.
Pardon my ignorance. I do not know if this transfer case will work with a 81-87 era truck that I would like to find one day.
I have been told the NP205 is a great transfer case and very desirable. I could not sell it a few years back when I listed it on craigslist.
I might keep it if it will work on a 81-87 square body. Again please feel free to educate me on what I have. I am a Ford Mustang guy so GM parts, and part numbers currently have NO meaning to me.
All I know is that my friends step father built it in hopes he would put it in a Blazer before he died. That never happened.
I know this is not the right forum to post items for sale, and I am not actually sure I want to sell it. I am not fishing for sales, or asking it's value.
Just curious if I should keep it for a future truck, more stubbed toes in the shed, and cursing practice.

We do a lot of chit talking about Furds.... That being said, the classic muscle pretty much gets a pass. I don't know of many people that would pass on a Mustang, especially a Mach1. Who here has ever seen Bullet, and didn't want one.

In the question of selling posts you have to have 50 posts here before you can sell anything.

As far as your 205. If you are looking at getting a 81 to 87 K20 I would keep it. There are all kinds of companies out there that make adapter plates for any king of transmission you want to run. There may be someone on here that has what you are looking for.

If you find a truck you like don't hesitate to ask questions. Take pics so we have a halfa$$ clue on what you are asking. Surf around on the site get to know some peeps here.

I agree with the other guys on here that this is a good place to go for square body truck information and assistance. And pictures are definitely worth over 1000 words!

Speaking of Bullet. A few years ago I was in a car cruise and saw this in the rear view mirror. So I had to take a pic. I instantly wanted to gun it and start a car chase. LOL. Something instinctual about seeing a 69 Charger in you rear view. LOL.

Welcome to the forum. Save the 205 for now. It was designed before the fuel crunch, so it's heavy but strong gear on gear unit. No front drive chain. Later if you don't need it, then sell.

You will most likely have to look outside the rust belt where some of us live to get a good rust free truck, unless bodywork is your thing. Happy hunting!
