Yeah, the pex thing works. I did it and it helped, but a whole new striker with brand new pex that goes all the way around, and isn't all rusted and hammered and filed down is $9.95 per door. I ended up doing that and it looks and works even better

The point was a fix for under 3$
Not 20 or 40$

Same door slamming troubles for years ...’87 GMC V2500. Bought the $9.95 Dorman replacements and only realized then about the missing plastic bushings. What a PIA to replace the whole strike on the front doors for that friggun piece of plastic...and then discovered that the side door strikes are not even accessible. Cut the plastic off the Dorman’s and secured them with hose clamps ...worked fine.

A year ago a ‘90 V2500 showed up on the doorstep ...same problem. Got some heavy duty 7/8” electrical heat shrink tubing. Fits over the strike bolt head and then shrink on to strike with a heat gun.

Hadn’t heard about the PEX until now, but the heat shrink tubing is another alternative.

in a similar mode, where at can you grease up the door-side to keep the latch from sticking up and it collides with the striker?
my dads 75 has to be flipped with a finger and my 1980 periodically does it. THe door does sag and thus not align perfect but Im guessing a door panel should come off? Ive sprayed silicone lube on the latch before

Try spraying the interior of the latch mechanism with PB Blaster. You'll have to pull the interior door panel for access.

I did this, but I still have to slam my doors. Wondering if the pvc, could be pex, is too thick.

Your door needs to be adjusted or your striker does. there is a factory tool for it and trial and error is a good subtitute too.

That’s a really good solution, Also new bushings are inexpensive.
