I have a 83 or 84 bed, and I have a 78 frame and fuel tank. Which filler neck would I need? 73-78 or 79-89

The round headlights didn't have fuel doors? I thought they didn't but I wasn't sure.

Just finished a bed off restro on my 85 K20 i have had since new. When i replaced the gas tanks and filler hoses i could not find the both pieces online from say LMC trucks. I ordered Stainless Steel bent piping and made my own. They will never rust out again.Fit good too.Dont forget the ID and OD if you go this route. Hope this helps

I just went through this puzzle a year ago....

I have a 76 (16 GAL tank) and a newer bed with a fuel door. (Not sure what year bed as the truck was in pieces when I got it). The filler opening on the bed will tell you if it's a 79-83 or 84-87. LMC catalog is helpful with pictures. I have a 79-83 bed. The size of the filler hose also changed in those years. 73-81 had a smaller size than 82-87.

So, similar to your situation. I needed a fuel filler pipe for a 79-83 and a fuel filler hose for a 79-81. That would be correct if you have the 79-83 bed. If it's an 84-87 bed, you may have to adapt from the smaller diameter fill hose to fit the larger size filler pipe.

You need the correct filler neck and brackets/hardware for what ever year bed you have. I would get an 80's style fuel tank with the larger fuel fill port to got along with the 84 filler neck. As previously noted above, LMC has nice pictures of the different filler necks and bed brackets/hardware

Definitely going to need the filler components for the bed. I have a 73 with a 81-82 bed and it took me a few tries to figure it out. I had to get the fuel filler neck that went with the bed not the actual year of the my truck.

I have a 77 (supposedly). I have a fuel door on driver's side, but just the gas cap on the passenger, no recessed fuel door.

I ordered the 77 fuel necks and hoses from LMC when I replaced both my tanks. The passenger worked perfectly - the driver side I had to cut in half and extend with a piece of pipe and hose clamps, and it doesn't have enough pitch - I have to fill with the nozzle slowly or it clicks itself off
