This guy seems like a pretty reliable source. He has lots of detailed information about Wrangler options.

I'm still looking for more info from GM if I can find it.

I'm pretty sure mine came like that from the factory. Maybe I can get a build sheet from GM...

I'd like to know for sure as well, but my money is on the leather wrap being installed by an outside source once the truck left the factory. That's what GM did with lower production specialty vehicles. And it was done often.

But the only people that have a steering wheel wrapped in leather like that, have a Wrangler or it has been done by a professional as a custom addition.

There is a company called Wheelskins that sells an excellent DIY real leather steering wheel wrap. They have gotten IMO pretty pricey in recent years but are great quality. Figure on at least an hour to install.

That's the second one pictured in this thread. I couldn't recall the brand name.

I found another example of a Wrangler with the factory leather steering wheel. This one is a 86 Wrangler Calgary Stampede Edition. Looks like a cool truck.

I've never seen one of theses in person but I doubt they made too many. Its got the horses in the decal instead of the W and a Calgary stampede badge on the fender.

I wonder if this truck has that

@bucket heres another example of the wheel with a common to the era wrap. It’s the same degrading material as the common wheel

is there a way to make these have a good surface again

one that won’t become gooey

I’m aware. That’s why I said it was a common store wrap from the era, also indicated it was jusr the wheel part which was a response ro bucket explaining what they were.

I tried peeling it off, it’s gonna be tedious af to try lol

I really like the looks of the leather wrap on the Wranglers. I bet it's more comfortable too.

The old cruddy aftermarket wraps usually come off fairly easy, even if it's in pieces.
