engine performance Issues,

I have a rebuilt short block 350 bored 30 over, have running issue feels like it is missing checked everything out new plugs, rebuilt carburetor, adjusted lifters, feels like it misses all through gears up to speed limit, step down on it and acts like coughing and poping through exhaust.

Have you checked the timing? And made sure the advance is working correctly?

Yes, go back and double check tune-up, especially firing order. Exhaust leak can cause popping into exhaust, but you said it runs poor. Could be a valve problem, bad distributor cap, vacuum leak, base tune up, ect. Check vacuum is it steady? What is the reading?
