Engine dipstick question(s)

So, this truck doesnt have an engine dipstick. And from what I have searched, 80+ had right side dipsticks. The truck looks like it should have a press in left side dipstick which seems this would be 79 and older. Also, 79 and older had a two piece dipstick, correct? Did they make a one piece ever? Ill post a pic from my phone.

Not certain about the side (left or right) but I've never heard of, or seen, a 2-piece dipstick or tube.

Gen1 small blocks had a lower tube pressed into the hole in the block, stuck about 2" in the pan to keep the dipstick away from the crank.

Yeah. That's what I've been reading .Do you know if that hole I posted is what the hole looks like. I know for my 84, if it were the stick block, it would be on the right.

I've also read that GM discontinued making the lower part.

I'm thinking around 79-80 when they did away with it, but I could be wrong..
