I have a 78 k10 with a 350. For some reason, when I press on the gas, the engine cuts out. Is this caused by the fuel/air ratio, the choke, or something else?

Could be the accelerator pump on the carb.

Look down in the carb, with engine off, work the accelerator, and see if you see fuel squirting.

Does it do this under hard acceleration or all the time?
Can you ease the throttle and accelerate without it stalling?

what rory said, ive had it where it has so little fuel in fuel line that until it built up some pressure barely running any throttle would stall it for being too lean, this is when the fuel drains back to tank because of my bad fuel pump.

Ive also had carb too rich and accelerator pump floods it essentially

Could i see a pic of your engine bay? certain emissions components not working may also contribute.

Pics would be good. Not trying to be difficult but you have given such little information it would be like a shot in the dark. Yes, most likely fuel. It would be good to know, if your hitting the gas hard, light or if it does it no matter what. Can you drive the truck or is it not driveable it's so bad. Have you tried anything to fix it yet, looked at anything.
