Thank you. I really appreciate. I’ll buy them from you. I am 16 and am pretty broke. Lol. I have a bunch a high body and bumpside parts I need to sell to raise money for this project. I’m also selling a 81 k-10. When I get the money I’ll be happy to buy them off you.
Ok let me see if I can find them first, we are in the same state so maybe we can PM locations and just meet up and I hand them to you and you save the shipping. Again will depend on how far apart we are.

Ok. Thank you. I’ll PM you. Hopefully sometime at the end of this month. I’m near Tacoma Washington.

Welcome.
You’re in luck living in Western WA. There are a lot of good parts around. Just gotta find them.
Personally and especially since you’re on a budget, you could find virtually all of the parts, used.
But I’d consider getting the switch and the valve new. And likely the tank. Unless you find a tank that is in good shape. They’re out there too.
Hangar brackets, tank straps, filler snout find used ones.
Search CL and FB. There are a few people who part out these trucks as a side hustle. And there’s always people just selling random parts and parts trucks.
Good news is you don’t need that stuff right away if you still have to paint the truck, so you have time to find used stuff for cheap.
And if you don’t add the tank, just dummy it up after painting. Way easier than the bodywork to get rid of the opening.

I swapped a tank and all the dual tank parts from a newer truck (maybe about an ‘81) to my ‘75 GMC when I installed an ‘81 bed. Nothing difficult about any of it, but much simpler and cheaper if you can find a donor truck with the all the right parts.

For example, the original fuel filler on my ‘75 was mounted in the side of the bed (no door), but the newer bed had the flip open door. This means the both the filler neck and the hose behind it are slightly different. You can’t easily modify the bends in the large hose, and it’s expensive so buy a new one, so using a correct donor hose makes it much cheaper and easier.

Might as well mention installing EFI compatible parts at this point. We all know the Rabbit Holes lurking on this forum. How long before the inevitable "how to increase my mpg" question is asked is anybody's guess. Somewhere in the subconscious the letters L and S are bound to link up. Let's break him in right boys.

I wanted to do something similar on a truck with a rear mounted fuel tank and no filler doors on either side.

I found a patch panel for the filler door on the internet and attempted to weld it in. The problem is the bed side is effectively double walled and it not possible to hammer and dolly as you weld. The result was pretty rough.

Once I discovered other damage in the rear of the bed side (pounds of bonds), I installed a new bedside from an earlier models which have the single filler on the right side. No my truck has no filler door/cap on either side. Fill is in the bed.

I got to thinking, (not something I usually do) and I had the idea of just putting a new bed side on with a closed cap. That side that I don’t need a fuel door on is dented and a little rotted.

Did you ever find the tank part? Thinking I could buy it from you when I get the money. I could always sell it if I don’t use it.

If you put an @ symbol before the user ID it will tag that person, if I hadn't of just so happened, to decide to look in this thread I would have surely missed it. No honestly I have not looked for it. I've just been super busy. What's your timeline like, can I wait to look for it next week?

Thank you sir. Just bought about 7 to 10 square body’s for $500. No idea if they run or anything. Gonna buy a few 7.3 power strokes from the person too. Might keep one. Get them running and sell them. Fingers crossed a 63 Vette and 66 Vette as well. Amazing what happens when you start talking to someone.
