Having problems when i switch tanks! Runs like crap spittin and sputtering sometimes kills the motor. But if i do get it going it comes out of it!

Is it switching to a particular tank, or does it do it for switching to either one.

Originally i thought one. but now im thinkin both. wondering if the electric valve isnt havin problems i can rev it up to leep it running. But it wants to sputter out if i let off tje throttle

If you isolate it to one, I'd check the pickup in the tank because it may be inundated with crud. If it does it with both, I'd check the wiring to the switch valve, and if it looks good, I'd replace the valve.

Try bypassing the valve and go straight to one tank. See if that fixes your problem.

Actually, the rev-up part actually makes me think you have a weak fuel pump.

Ill get it switched over to the other side run it till its running good try switchin it over been like that awhile just now startin to drive me nuts.

Oh, yeah. I didn't even notice this is an '87. I'd absolutely keep the fuel pump on that tank in mind.

Very common for the hose between the pump and the sending unit to split. You'll get enough fuel for it to stumble and run like garbage at idle, and not much else. It just pumps the fuel right back into the tank.

Switched it on the way home and it was fine. let off the throttle at 45 switched it no problems ran the same
