Strength wise, not much. Cost to build, the Dana 70 its way more expensive to build when it comes to lockers and gears, 14ff disc swaps are easier to come by too.

How do you determine between the two? I cant find any numbers on it like my D60 in front so Im sorta lost

That Hollander book is using the number of diff cover bolts to identify the d70hd. 10 cover bolts is correct, however, this is careless on their part as this creates confusion with the more common 1/2 ton axle.

Drop the book and use the pics posted.
