Im going to pretend I am you and demonstrate how I order parts.

Are the performance gains these metal shim head gaskets provide worth the possibility I might be pulling heads off a fresh engine?

Im pulling these heads of cause these are really bad smogg heads. And im gonan stick my vortecs on it when i get them back. With the cam i plan on running i want a pretty good flowing Int/exh system. And I feel i have that covered since it will be a 650 holley on top of a Edie Performer Intake mounted to the vortecs, then from the vortecs its gonna dump into 1" 5/8 Headers that run into true 3" glasspacks then run thrue 3" pipe that slightly bends so it comes out in front of the back tires.

Basically what this engine is to me is a short block.

Went and talked to my machinest, without the positive seals my heads are max of .685 lift, so what we are doing is, we are going to unbrella seals which are .150 thick on top, so we are taking .150 off of the guide and cutting the guide support down flush. So my heads will be capable of .625 safe lift, and at that theres .060 slack.

Not to shabby.

Well i got my heads back today from my machine shop, and i had him check the installed height of my springs real quick. Well the installed height is 1.67". And the bind height of my springs are 1.17". So that left for .500" play. And my cam is 489/504 lift. So im gonna pick up another set of springs from speedway here this next week or so that bind at 1.1 giving me .570".

It pays to double check lol, that would have been an un-pleasent noise.

Well today i got my cam and timing set ordered, should be here late this week to early next week.
Also, I threw a stock converter in the th350 so i can drive it while saving up for a higher stall converter.

And today i was also working on re-sleeveing alot of the engine wireing and removing the computer ****.

Ive fallen in love with this shirt lol, its just Badass looking on the back.
The only bad thing is they sent me 1 size to small XD i wear a large and they sent me a medium, but im thinking if i wash it cold it shouldnt really shrink. As of right now it fits me perfect.
