Did I get the right jack stands?

So I bought these ACDelco 3 ton jack stands and wanted to know why the saddle is a different shape than the 2 ton and 4/6ton models. All of those ones are more flat and this one has a huge dip in the middle. Can they both be used for the same thing? Will I still be able to use them on the frame rails?

I wanted a set of jack stands that would be versatile. I want them to be safe for my truck but I also want something I can use on a buddy’s car or if I end up getting a smaller car for some reason. Did I get the right ones?

IMHO you're ok.
Personally I don't like the flat-top ones.

You're good. The v is for putting under rear axle or something round like that. It will still fit your frame too. I have a set of 3 ton stands too. You'll be fine.

They are versatile, and will work well for your truck or a car, or whatever you need to rest on the perches.

Harbor Freight sells these covers for about $9. They're nice if you don't want to scratch a painted surface.

My small stands look like that. My large like 10 ton or whatever they are stands are flat with slight raised edges on the ends of the perches.like said it's so a round axle will cradle in them or a more rounded or pointed area will sit down in them. Always make sure that there is no way it can slip off the jack stand. Also best to always use two of you can. I personally will leave the jack under a vehicle too with slight pressure but most weight is on the stands. I do this incase it may want to slip that the jack is also holding it up. I never crawl under though with just a jack. And never with just a jack stand that could slip out.

I do that too, unless I absolutely have to remove the jack because it's in the way of where I need to work.

I wouldn't worry about shape, but the height of 3-ton stands is too low for a pickup, IMO. I have 2 pairs of 6-ton stands and one pair of 12-ton. Can't beat those 12-ton models under the axle tubes for getting the truck up in the air! I think you'll find the 3-ton models will need to be almost fully extended to hold a truck off the ground, unless it's really slammed. The 6-T and 12-T bases are also bigger.
