I found a trim piece at the local wrecking yard. It's complete but there's a chrome section that is coming loose near the passenger wiper blade base about 1.5" long. I'm superglueing it back down. The rest looks nice, no discoloration or damage.
If you're interested in it, let me know. Can send more photos.

That's a dang nice one!

I ripped mine off cause I thought it was cheap after market. It was yellowing , delaminating and splitting

Mine got broken when the painted the upper of the truck - just the very end. Eff it - it was kind of a weird add on anyhoo ...

I pulled all the side trim and can trim off anyway. Mine was dented, flapping, falling off, and causing rust to come from the holes. I never liked the way it looked.

Has anyone found a source for the rear hood trim piece?
Seems like an easy piece to reproduce and makes the hood look sharp.

Any info on getting a new one would be appreciated.

I didn't even know this was a thing :hmm: I'm not aware of anyone repopping those, or at least I've never run across them (clearly, if I didn't even know they existed lol). I can tell ya we (AMD) wouldn't repop it since clearly it's a fairly rare/not super desirable/not often searched for piece.

It was included on all the higher trim level trucks of the time. They were very common, but they all turned to yellow and cracked garbage decades ago. I'll bet that most people these days don't even know that their truck is supposed to have that part.

I think they were more commonly on Blazers. When I ordered my truck, I ordered the Blazer package. They can be found in decent shape. At my local bone yard I have seen several Blazers with them still on the hood and yes, they are yellowed. I took mine and gently pealed off the yellow plastic using my fingernail and now it is just shiny aluminum. I looked at even possibly buying some auto door trim by the foot to replace it. I will try the original until it doesn't look good any more. Another thing that could be done is to take to a paint shop and have them paint the silver right on the edge of the back of the hood. I like the look, gives it a unique look.

At first glance I figured it to be some silver colored quick edge. I vaguely remember something like that from the day, but I am not 100% certain.

I love learning new things every day. It gets easier the farther along the memory loss progresses.

IT is made of plastic and its painted or skinned with a shiny coating. The coating flakes off over time too. I have one on my original hood and my 1978 Hood has one. Its definitely not something Id try to remove. The best thing ive seen people do is to replace it with some large width door "edge" guard molding stuff

If anyone is looking to replace theirs, I finally found a suitable replacement. tt is a bit of a PiA to get on but looks nice. Word of advice, use a small rubber mallet to tap onto/over edge. It is Truck/SUV edge trim and I bought it at O'Reillys's. Here are 2 pictures of it on and a picture of the package. Make sure it is the 1/2 inch wide one.
