Welp. I finally got my truck back from the transmission shop yesterday... made it about 100' put of the parking lot before I noticed a light knock in the motor..... tried to limp it to my folks' place but by the time I got there it sound like someone was shaking a coffee can full of rocks in the oil pan... not really sure wtf happened as it was running pretty decent before I dropped it off.... freshly built 400 small block down the *******...

In a couple weeks I'll have time to pull the motor and figure out wtf exactly happened then it'll be time to decide whether to keep my 2015 or dump a bunch more money into this motor again.... I'm leaning towards either keeping the 2015 or finding a Dodge with a p-pump cummins to use for hunting and pulling my boat with...

X2 on the flexplate bolts, when I bought Big Red it sounded like it was detonating so bad it was trying to pound the crank out the bottom, someone put a new flexplate on and forgot to tighten the converter bolts, check that first before you do anything..

Yeah, especially if it had just been at the trans shop.

I don't think thats the issue, but I will definitely check it... All they did was apparently check the wiring... but thats what doesn't make sense to me... They told me the TCC Solenoid power wire was wired wrong.... but it used to work....my truck used to go into lockup... If it was wired wrong, how did it ever work before? something is really fricken shady... I'm about 95% sure they didn't drop the transmission... And from what they claim, all they had to do was get the power wire hooked up to the right terminal in the plug which as I said, doesn't make sense...

I should add that after the lockup quit working, I replaced the plug for the lockup wiring on the truck because it was not in the best shape and I was thinking it may have been the culprit... When I replaced it, I cut and spliced 1 wire at a time so as to not get them mixed up...

What were they doing to the truck? Your lockup quit working, and that's what you took it in for? In your original post, I think it was implied that they were doing a rebuild. At least, that's how I took it. It doesn't sound like you wired it wrong, though. If you would have messed up the ground wire, it wouldn't have done anything, and if you would have mixed up the activation/deactivation wires, it probably would have acted noticeably weird like locking up when you hit the brakes or having power applied to the deactivation side constantly and just not working. That's just a guess since I've never had that issue.

Hmm, if it's not the flexplate bolts, I'd have to wonder what kind of test driving was going on? Fresh built 400? Who built it? Any warranty?

I brought it in to them because I thought maybe the lock up solenoid went out... I had them build the transmission for me about 6 or 8 months ago so it is under warranty. This is why I didn't just replace the solenoid myself... Well imagine my surprise when they tell me it wasn't working because it was wired wrong... If it was wired wrong, how could it have worked at all in the first place...

HRPC the first question I had was about the test driving.... And the motor was built by myself and my dad who has been building motors for the better part of 40 years including race motors, whether it be drag race or circle track motors...

So what was their answer to the test driving question? If you dropped it off in working condition, then picked it up in non-working condition I would be knocking their damn door down.

Fresh 400? **** yeah they probably beat the piss out of it. "Test driving"

less than 1000 miles on a slightly built 400... Dart SHP heads, almost 10:1 compression ratio... It makes a little power... the program that comp cams has says I should be making 425 hp and 525 tq. I built it to pull my boat...

It all just depends on who drove it... I don't think he would have been out ripping around in it... but he's got a couple pretty young guys working for him that I could see doing it... I had my dad go talk to the owner because he knows him really well.... Also, I've not yet gotten myself in the right state of mind to go up and talk to him and have a non foot-meets-ass conversation...

Good move to send someone else. I'm like you. I'd end up down there finding out if he can floss with my boot laces cause my boot is so far up his ass.

Best of luck, I hope this works out for you.

This was my first thought but didn't want to throw anyone under the bus. Now that you say he has a couple young kids working there, they very well could have thought it was full of ATF and tried moving the truck. This results in it just revving to the moon and slightly trying to move.
