Trying to figure out what is suppose to go here but not having much luck. Any help is appreciated.

Nothing. Just an access hole for the wiper arm from the wiper motor

That is an access door to unbolt the wiper motor from the wiper arm linkage to replace the motor. I believe they originally came with rubber grommets that covered the whole. I couldn’t find one and ended up making a new door out out a piece of sheet metal and sealed it with silicone

Do something to seal it asap. The PO on my 85 had a bad washer/wiper module, but I guess he tried replacing the motor first instead and lost it. It let water in and ended up rotting the whole riverside floor out.
When I get back to my rig this weekend, I will try and send you a pic of what I built. Maybe they sell them new on line, I didn’t look very hard but also check junkyards.

I do not believe there was any kind of plug. I've never seen one, I looked through some sub 1,000 mile trucks that have sold in the last few years at auctions and none of them have any kind of plug.

Maybe @Keith Seymore can weigh in on this.
