I was watching extreme 4x4 and slappy spikey hair said that there are two different lengths of 14 bolts 63" and 67"(dont quote me, i think those are the dimensions he said)

Anyway... So gm likes to put shorter rear axles in their trucks(anyone know why?) and to me it looks stupid... So should i get the same length 14 bolt(as my stock 10 bolt) and get spacers or properly offset wheels to match the front or should i get the longer one?

my guesses would be one(shorter) being for dual rear wheels, and the longer for single rear.

If not then it's year range, the 73-87's compared to 88-98 trucks have wider or shorter rears. I think the 88-98's are wider.

narrower in the rear and wider in the front is so they dont plow like a dump truck,, nothing worse than coming into a corner and turn the wheel and it keeps going straight.....

On 14 bolt axles, there are two widths. SRW and DRW pick up 14 bolt axle are 67" , chassis cab trucks have 63" axle. The housings are the same, the difference in the widths is in the off set on the hubs.

Having owned several c&c 14 bolts, I can assure you, the c&c housing is considerably narrower.

Another thing to consider with your "source"... if you remember, before the show was created, there was an internet based contest for a host for an off road show for spike tv... He won his job in an internet contest, and is now a puppet for writers who are sometimes misinformed.

A regular dually truck has the bed fenders to cover the back wheels, where a C&C tucks dually wheels under the width of the bed.

The housing actually is the same width, that's why the axle shafts interchange between the two. However, it does look much narrower because of where the backing plates are mounted on the housing. When you strip it all down it becomes obvious that the only difference is where the backing plate mounts are welded to the housing.

Having had 2 of them stripped down next to each other, the housing lengths are different from spindle to spindle.

And how wide is the d60 in comparison? Or are their different variations of that too?

there are only 2 different widths on a front 60. a DRW and a SRW. the DRW is 5-6" wider IIRC.

I just don't see how that can be. The dually hubs alone are enough to push the wheel in right next to the spring, if the housing were narrower the tire would be touching the spring. Unless the housing isn't very much narrower at all. From spindle to spindle, what kind of difference are we talking here?

14b FF, from here http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_bible/index.html

SRW (single rear wheel truck) 67.5"

DRW (dual rear wheel truck) 72"

C&C (cab and chasis truck) 63.5"

Van 70" G30 and G35T

D60, from here http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/60_front/
Dodge and Chevy front Dana 60s are very similar, and in many cases fairly interchangeable - both parts and entire assemblies...
All SRW Chevy D60s are 69" wide wheel-mounting-surface to wheel-mounting-surface (wms-wms).
A Dodge DRW D60 is 75.5" wms-wms.
