AuroraGirl,
Yeah, and I've got a good one I made up so it's not such a hassle to get to the front of the engine like to remove a fan or whatever.
You take the shroud and cut it in half. The you get a piece of 1/2" alum. angle and cut angle cuts in one side so you can shape it around the shroud. Pop rivet the side up against the shroud.
Then do the same on the other half of the shroud. Then fit the two ends together and clamp them together. Drill holes in the sides of the angle that are together. Then turn screws of your choice into both holes that are still clamped together so that the holes line up.
Do the same thing to the other side of the shroud and now you have two halves you can remove anytime you need to.
This shroud caused me a pain for a long time. I don't know why I thought I had to deal with it in one piece. Then one day I thought why do I have to keep it together. I'll cut this sucker apart and fit it back together and I can take it apart any time I need to. Necessity is the mother of invention.
You leave the bottom half in the clips at the bottom of the radiator support. Then when you are through, put the top back in, without removing anything, puill the sides together and start s couple of screws and then you might put a couple of those bolts in the top piece that are fixed to the radiator support to hold the top shroud, and put the rest of the screws in, then the bolts, and you are done
