On my models cars and trucks I've used Easy-off to remove old paint and chrome.
I’ve done the oven cleaner as well. I was just worried with this being old brittle plastic that it might deform it.

Also have used oven cleaner to degrease engine parts. Best way to prep cast aluminum go-kart engines for power coat.

What I do know if aircraft stripper destroys old plastic.

Gonna do some light sanding and get ready for paint.

I repainted the door panels a matte black with a satin black door pull. And recarpeted lower panels with some Toyota trunk carpet I got from a textile mill. (Truck is all black in and out) I’m dechroming everything inside since the chrome was so rusty and pitted. Changing all the interior chrome to aluminum coloring.

Next challenge....interior door latches.

So I’m totally A-D-D. I bounce around from project to project. Will come back to these later on. I think it’s time to go work on custom headliner.

That looks so boss, what do you do to get the paint to come out so nice? Just wipe off the bleach?

Soak in bleach for like 24 hours. Scrubbed every 8 hours or so with brass brush. Then rinsed. Dry. And light sanding with 400 grit.

Paint promoter, prime, paint, clear
