Another thing to look into for a small vibration (especially if it comes and goes) is wheel runout and tire balance. That's something that I have fought with my '85 ever since I put the 20s on. Sometimes the vibration will be enough the whole truck shakes (mildly, but still) and then I go around a corner and it's gone. It's something in my rear wheel/tire balance and phasing. I need to have the tires pulled off and the wheels spun up by themselves to see how bad they are since they're just cheap cast wheels. I guarantee that's my problem. Also road force balancing is a godsend if you can find a shop that'll do it
also.
Brake rotor can do the same thing

Here is a 1979 Pontiac Firebird with a pontiac 301 and a TH350 (What a disappointing combination). non lockup th350, so its not making great use of the low power 4 qjet on a 301, and its 2.79 axle ratio. lol. The car even has the hood chicken, what madness.
But it has ralleye gauges, G80 "Posi Axle"
The owner doesnt drive it fast because it runs poorly and is afraid to drive it in anything one could slip the tires, so ive yet to find out if it locks or if it slips

I told him to look for a bigger pontiac/olds engine to drop in because why pull the 301 just to fix this

It's a limited slip. My '79 Camaro has one, with G80 on the build sheet.
