No, drainback or siphoning does not drain the carb.
What it can do is empty the fuel lines from the carb back to the tank. The carb can evaporate dry fast, even in a few hours. Most common causes of siphoning- weak pump valves, or worn, or dirt, and a bad fuel cap.

Can't happen in 1406 so irrelevant.
BS
That chinese carp has no check valve. Only Rochester's came with check valve fuel filters.

I can show you a dozen 1400 Chinabrocks that all leak down. We install bass check valves in them. The check valves wear out in 4-5 years and you have to replace them.
BTW did you know Chinabrock discontinued the 1400 series? NO Parts, no more, and AFB parts do not fit.

The fuel pump check valves are known to blow out due to FOD (foreign object damage).
Now and Then in Maine sell rebuild kits for all AMERCIAN made fuel pumps.

DO NOT put an eclectic fuel pump on a carbed engine. The machinal stock fuel pump will run everything short of dual quads.

I agree,I prefer a mechanical pump and have always told everyone that's what to run,and they will run 2x4s or 3x2s,But try buying one today, that has correct fuel pressure and is assembled correctly,it is more likely you will get a bad one than a good one..

I had luck with Carter pumps, all working without flaw. Fuel pressure ratings and real pressure is not matching most of the time. That's why I run fuel pressure regulators.

So your expierience also is that pressure isn't correct, without the use of an external presdure regulator

Had very good luck with the AVS series carbs. That edelbrock intake is perfect.
(always carry a spare HEI control module) You'll be glad you did.
How's your electric choke working out for you?

Finally got my electric choke working fine and understanding the functionality of it... meaning, in the morning I hit the gas pedal one time before starting it resets the cam with the choke and I get my fast idle speed until the truck is warmed up......the way it's supposed to work.
However what I don't like is once I'm driving the truck, cut it off, let it sit for a while then truck doesn't start right up.... I have to pump the gas a few times to get it to start.... I don't understand why it's that. Do y'all think it's because it's a carbureted system and now fuel injection?
