True, if you're willing to shell out the cash and tolerate the noisy idler gears.

Not all are Noisy, Pete Jackson makes a quite gear drive, that you can barely hear. Myself I like my Noisy Pete Jackson on my DD, makes everybody look.

It also makes people think you have a turbo and then noone wants to race. I like sleeper quiet and element of suprise. Yes, I am also aware Pete J makes the quiet Gear driven now too. Way back in my racing days, they didn't. All gear drives, Pete or Zoom were noisy as hell and whined like a squeeling bitch having a mega orgasm.

I think that's is the one thing I love about my Gear Drive, Hit the gas real quick, and it hits that high whine, for just a second.

I was under the impression that the "quiet" gears were loud, and the "noisy" gears were really loud. So the quiet gears actually ARE quiet?

Yes, I had a Quiet Pete Jackson in the BBC I had in my Jimmy, you could barley here it, it still whines, but you have to listen for it. The load Pete Jackson I have in mt 82 DD you can hear it over the exhaust leak I have at the head gasket.

OH my bad, I just assumed what way back when meant. Did you ever race over in Hollywood? I had my ass handed too me by a VEGA, I was in my buddies 69 Chevelle, with a Tunnel Rammed 454, and a 4 speed rock crusher. Never did catch him to see what he was running.

Gotta replace the cam bearings. Found one that was marked up after pulling the camshaft out.

Its fine. Its a cam bearing. It doesn't appear to be severely gouged, I'd rock with it. Cam bearings are nowhere near as critical as main and rod bearings.. Now if they were down to the copper colored babbit, then I might replace them, but otherwise, Not for a rering job.

Its fine. Its cam bearings for a rering motor, not a new rebuild or reman engine. IF it were down to the bronze colored babbit, I'd say have them changed, but looks fine in the pic and your desicription, I say they are usuable for a rering motor and you'd get full life out of them.
