They are very comparably priced next to what was posted earlier...just sayin...he didn't ask me.
They do look like a very nice set of heads, but for me I think they would bump the compression up higher than what I would want (~9.5:1) as compared to the 72cc Chambers on the ones I bought (~8.99:1).

Cam showed up today, very pleased with how fast it arrived and how well it is packaged.

Got the manifolds unbolted from the y pipe, by some grace of God all of them unbolted with no breakage. Did have to use about 4 different size sockets from how badly some had degraded.

Sandblasted the tin after work and got 3 coats of engine enamel primer and two coats of Chevy orange red laid down. A few more good coats then clear.

Too late now, but AL heads will easily tolerate another full point higher compression than their iron counterparts. Likely even as high as 11:1 on pump premium and a decent street cam, depending how good the combustion chamber design is and a few other factors.

My initial impressions on these heads are very good. Ports are larger than the 397 head and passed the 7/16 wrench test with flying colors.

ight be too late but if it is running well and returning good mpg's why not try and run something through it it that will help maybe get rid of the noise, like maybe some stiction eliminator, or a quart of trans fluid in place of a quart of oil? Sounds crazy but its old tricks like that which can clear up things like lifter tick.

Got it put back together.

Still sporting bumper damage and busted taillight.

Went in relatively painless. biggest trouble was getting the flexplate in the bellhousing to get the angle right to slip on the motor mounts.

Left the power steering and a/c belts off for break in. Less things to worry about. Took some fiddling to get running. Nothing huge, just a little timing adjustment and having to push some plug wires back onto the plugs.

Put into the garage for the night. Still need to get the exhaust figured out and welded up, check valve lash once more- none of the rockers are loose like a flat cam lobe but after spending all that money I'd rather be safe than sorry. It did drive into the garage however, seemed to have some pep too.

Doesn't sound the greatest due to the exhaust having more leaks than a water bucket made from cloth. I just slipped the pipes and mufflers together propped up with 2x4s.

It seems to be pretty responsive. I calculated it to have right at 9.0:1 static and 8.3:1 dynamic compression, which I'd imagine is quite a bump from whatever it was before with larger chambers and thick head gaskets (something like 8.2:1 static or even lower).
I am pretty excited to get everything else buttoned up on it and see how she scoots.

You did verify the new heads (valves) are actually sealing? Many many aftermarket heads need touch ups at the least...
