Cab and bed gap

this is my 1982 C30 . I have this massive gap between my cab and bed , I believe this is because the truck originally was a cab and chassis , it was owned by the rail road company and it had a flat bed on it at some point , is there any thing I can do to narrow that gap at least a little ?

It may be due to a different year box than the cab. I'm not familiar with any differences but I've seen mismatched boxes installed on frames that don't quite match up.

The best to do it is to just remove the rear spring hangers and reinstall them a little closer to the cab. You may or may not have to adjust brake lines and drives haft length afterward.

Here is a thread about doing it. It's involves Fords, but the premise is the same on any truck.

I had the same issue when I bought a C&C then put a bed on it. If you narrow the cab/bed gap the rear tires won't center in the opening and look odd. I adopted the "learn to live with it" attitude.

How much is a little? An inch? Wonder if you could egg shape the holes for the bed to bolt it down closer to the cab? If the rear wheels clear, at least they dont turn / clearance issues that way. Might wind up having to fudge the rear bumper then too.

They'd probably clear, but having off-center wheels is as annoying as having the bed gap.
