Ah, ok. Duals with 37's and not too wide. Got it.

I'd run the SRW axle. It's the same as the C&C axle, other than the hubs. If you put spacers behind the inner duals, you are almost as wide as a SRW axle anyway and you will still need a second set of spacers to get the outside duals far enough away from the inside duals.

Well im not sure i understand about keeping the srw axle the c&c hub is twice the size of my srw hub my dumb welder brain says that the full float axle in the srw 14 bolt will need to be longer to fit that hub

The only difference between the C&C 14ff and the SRW 14ff is the hubs. They inset the wms towards the leaf springs. The only difference to the housing itself is the flange, it's moved inbound so the same brakes can be used.

The DRW hub is not bigger or longer, it just has the wms offset differently.

If you measure the width of both axles from axle flange to axle flange, you will find that it's the same.

Srw 14 bolt F2F measured up 53 in
C&C 14 bolt F2F measured up 46 1/2 in

Nvm that was the wrong measurement last night that was axle tube flange to axle tube flange.

@bucket my K30 SRW has 3.5" wide brake shoes and so do DRW axles. He hasn't stated which drums he has. I know the 3/4 ton SRW only have 2.5" brake shoes and I would assume narrower drums. If he installs the hubs from the DRW axle to his SRW axle (assuming it has the 2.5" wide shoes), will he need to change the backing plates too?

The brakes aren't the issue, but the flange on the axle housing is the same place no matter the width of the drums, it's the backing plate that takes up the difference.

A DRW 14ff has hubs with the wms inset, and the housing flange is inset as well to accommodate the DRW style hubs.

A SRE 14ff has hubs with the wms more outboard, and the housing flange is more outboard to accommodate the SRW style hubs.

Both DRW and SRW 14ff's share the same overall width from AXLE flange to AXLE flange. The DRW 14ff ONLY has a narrower track width due to the HUBS.

Putting 2" spacers behind the inner dual is basically the same thing as just running the SRW axle that was already in the truck to begin with, as far as track width goes.

IMHO, that's a very hack way of doing it, especially for a wrecker that sees a lot of weight over the rear axle. Especially since they cut the original studs so damn short. There should be threads protruding from the lugnuts.

I following you now took me a min to catch on im goin to swap over the hub drum and internals over to my srw 14 bolt. Ill still use the 2in. Steel spacers i got from fred goeske. Swap over the 1 ton spring pack move the rear hanger back a couple inches and call it good. and onto the fabrication of the bed.. Thanks for the knowledge and being cool bout my uneducated dive head first approach.

If you use the DRW hubs on the SRW housing, remember you will need to relocate the brake flanges on the housing.

Why not just use the SRW axle assembly with hubs? That takes care of the tire clearance to the springs. Then use the nice steel spacers between the duals. That takes care of the clearance between the tires.
