I just found another add for that same 454 burb for $800. That's getting mighty tempting. I wonder if 5 would buy it.

completely agree! My parents just moved into a new house and in this new neighborhood the rule states "no major vehicle repair shall be performed in driveway" LOL I'm not sure what they consider "major repair" but one person's major repair is another person's walk in the park. A pretty stupid HOA rule IMO

There are many communities in this town with rules like that. My statement is, "What if you do the work in your garage? If they can't see you doing it, they cannot complain about it!" I would never live in one of those commy-unities. My neighborhood is bad enough and there aren't any HOA's. I think my complaints come from the church-goers that frequent the area because I have 2 churches next to my house. The one next to me, I get to talk to them, and they like me. The Mormon church across the street I don't talk to them. They're the ones that usually have that look of being better than me, even when they park in front of my house to go to church. One day I came home for lunch and parked under my tree for shade. That left 3 wheels off concrete. I heard a guy talking to others across the street, he said, "It is illegal to park on your lawn, you need to park on concrete."

If it says NO MAJOR REPAIR, that is a good one. You can usually at least do oil changes and your own brakes. No engine, trans or axle swaps though. Just basic maintenance, like oil and filters change. Spark Plugs and tune is usually fine too. They just don't want a vehicle tore in pieces in the yard. Some hoods here say, NO WORKING ON CARS. You get caught with your hood up, you'll get a citation. We even have a city ordinance in Nichols Hills, a burb of OKC, no trucks parked in the driveway. Gotta put them in the garage. It's a hood where most are driving Escalades, Beamers, Mercedes, Lexus and such. And it seems no color either. Seems 95% of them will be Black or White.

That's why I live "Out in the Country".
My grandad had a fenced in area of his yard to work on stuff, couldn't see in that fence either so what he did back there was his business.

I'm hoping to get a place like that some day, or get a place with a garage/shop. To build one at my current place is not cost effective. And there is no way to get a vehicle in my backyard unless it's in pieces.
