I was gonna take the 284 and bolt it up to a GTP 3.8L and stick it in a 99GP GT. Perfect sleeper. And I was looking at a borla exhaust for it. But then i read that the 284 wasnt that strong and aparently it was a press together case, so i scrapped that idea. I know that if i had gotten it together, ide be thrue a couple trannys by now, cause ide chip and cam the 3.8.

And retro, Thats the only way it USED to be, idk about now.

 I know a guy running a 441 hp turbo'd 3.8 with a 284 in a GP. He's broken axles but not the trans as far as I know.

Running a chip and a cam in an L67 ain't gonna break much.

You haven't been able to get a 284 rebuilt unless you got EXTREMELY lucky and came across a $3500 rebuild kit in about 10 years.

Retro, what idiot sold you a TGP for $75? Man those years are rare.

While the 3.1T is a cool swap, it's more economical for power/parts to put a 3.8SC from 97-03 GTP's. I was always waiting for the 3.1 in the Lumina to go out to do a 3.8SC swap but it never did even after 265,000 miles and then I sold it for $1600.

here she is when I sold it, had started rust repair but never finished.

Nice looking Lumina!

I bought the TGP at a salvage auction. It had been hit in the rear. I'm trying to get my buddy to buy a TGP that's for sale in Colorado for $1000. Gorgeous car too and has the rarer gray interior. He has one already but would like to get a few more, if he gets this one he will need a black/tan and a black/gray cars as well as both colour Turbo STE GPs. :weld:

I had a Maui Blue Z34 in my yard in 1999 with a 5 speed...Now I wish I had kept it, it was one of two Maui Blue Z34s ever with a 5 speed. I didn't know or care at the time, I got $1000 for the trans.

Only two huh? Well thanks for crapping on my hopes and dreams, lol. How about the gray ones?

That's pretty nice. A guy I know has a coupe the same colors that he bought new, although his is a base model with no options at all.
