Too bad it's a Ferd...This would be badass.

Ferd or Not. I'd put a 460 and a manual 5 speed in that bitch with 4.56 rear gears and have me a "When SHTF" vehicle.

Edit. Now I read, it's already got the 460. I think I'd also have a Propane set up on it. Yes, Propane. Not cuz it's cost effective, but you might not be able to get enough gas for that beast.

The 2.8 IS a JUNK IMO. It may have improved, but still, no matter what it's still a 60 degree V6. The motor was originally thought of for front wheel drive passenger cars and it should have never been in a RWD vehicle IMO.

Them thar's fightin' wurds!!

What year is yours? That does sound impressive. I know for a fact the 82-84 models were flat junk. Cracked heads, spun bottom ends and all kinds of ****, well under 100K. I'm talking around the 50-70K mark they were failing badly.

Yeah, the early ones weren't really any good. They did get good in '85 though with MPFI, better cam, stronger crank, and better flowing heads. Then they got even better in '87 with even better flowing aluminum heads and a different intake design. The later TBI motors were fairly reliable, but still a little gutless like the early carb 2.8's.

Hey Retro. Years ago when I was driving for the company one of our customers had a company truck/GMT400 that was in a wreck. Front was totaled so they cut that part out and had it for sale and I bought it and drug it back on the delivery truck. Boss was like WTF? LOL! So anyway I did pinch the frame and make a make a GMT400 trailer out of it, 6' bed, had a bed liner in it, wired the tail lights into a tow harness. That thing was awesome, did a lot of hauling with it, rode smooth as ****. Mounted a tool box in front of the headboard on the A-Frame, had it for a few years then sold it. I would not hesitate to do it again, best trailer I ever owned. :D
