IMO if a LONG bed is "perfect" a good price is in the 250 to 300 range. If a bed needs some work and repair but is salvageable a good price is 100 or less. I paid about $200 for my bed. it had a few dings and dings in it but was 100% rust free. I was more than happy to pay that.

Now a good short bed seems to be a different story most likely due to their demand.

No kidding? A good box is worth more than a whole truck around here. I suppose cause everyone either took them off for flatbeds or left them on and beat the **** out of them. I've only ever seen ONE near perfect box and my brother stole it for $50 on an auction.

Here are some pics of the bed I got before I'd done any body work to it at all. I got this in Southern Kansas near Hutchinson for $200ish. I wouldn't pay over $300 for a long bed box. If I'm paying over that I'm getting all new panels from LMC instead but that is just my own opinion :)

Here is a decent pic of the biggest dent in the bed. An easy fix and like I said ZERO rust on the entire bed.

You lucky dog. :flipthebird: I've been looking for a good bed for my '84 for almost 2 years now. Best thing I've come up with so far is a decent bed off a '76 or so with the round holes instead of the doors. And I paid $50 for it. Ugh.

Guess I'll have to broaden my search. :hmm:

 Yeah, I kinda stumbled upon it through someone in my truck club. They were on a different forum and posted the classified ad on our truck club site. I think it was originally posted in some dirt track racing site or something obscure like that  Hence the reason I jumped on it so quick

For a perfect bed, I'd think more in the $400-$500 range when it comes with a tailgate, but think $650 was steep, and good bed in need of some minor repair about $300 or so.

I doubt you could build a $1000 beater for less than $8500. You could get that for $8500 or less or spend that much or more over time. I got more than that in mine and I havent painted it or got into the engine or tranny yet.
