Actually it is easy for me to swap 2X4 to 4X4. All I need is a chasis then I can fire the 40' boom crane up and move the body to the 4X4 :D

Ok, That's a body swap. Big difference in that and a 4x4 conversion. I'd do a body swap onto a 4x4 roller.

either way you want to look at it.

Are the 2X4 and 4X4 frames the same? Can you actually take a front end and put under a 2X4?

NOPE, that's why its such a pain in the ass. Lots of rivet breaking and removing, then lots of drilling, welding and bracket fabbing. Its just much easier to swap bodies. Keep in mind, when you do a body swap, you need the center hump outta the 4x4 too. Its higher to accomaodate the Tcase. Either that, a boby lift will compensate for the hump height, but then your shifter is very low on the floor.

There's an additional hump under the seat to clear the t-case. It's not an impossible mod, and maybe 1% easier than just swapping the whole frame. All the rusted bed bolts, body mounts, wiring, etc you have to deal with when swapping the body onto another frame... then depending on what your donor frame's condition is, brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, etc it may be slightly easier to put the axle under the 2WD. But you'll need a 4x4 handy to make sure you get all your measurements right for the front leafs, no room for error with that. You would also need the cross member, front & rear d-shafts, t-case...I'm sure there's a lot more.

I know I considered heavily before I got my K10 roller since at the time I had 3 C20 trucks and wanted a Foba Fo. I did some pretty extensive research into it on many sites and many opinions. The answer to my question was YES, it can be done. 9 of 10 said, don't waste your time money and effort. Find a roller and do a body swap since you'd have to find at least a roller anyway for the conversion, so unless you found a 4x4 frame that was wiped out in the back end, it just wasn't feasible if you had the roller chassis already. The 1 who said to do it, also said, sure its much easier to do the body swap, but why not complicate it and build it yourself, then you can say you built a truck yourself from the ground up. Those weren't the answers I wanted to hear, but I soon decided that was the way it was gonna have to be done. If you think about it, it sounds and should be easy, but its really not. There is a thread somewhere of a guy doing 8 pages of the conversion, and obviously never finished it, or he died cuz he disappeared off the face of the earth. I'd like to find that thread again.

IMO the BEST answer would be to sell the 2WD and find a 4WD already all together just needing something minor.

HE don't even have the 2wd yet. That's why I was trying to talk him out of it and be patient and hold out for the K20 he wants. Apparently its true that the K10 and K20 frame differant. We know for certain they are in Burbs, but not positive yet for Pick Ups.
I was suggesting he could even get a K10, updgrade to rear 56in 3/4 ton springs, swap out the 10b 6 lug rear end to a 14b Full Float 8 lug. Swap his front 6 lug hubs to 8 lugs, or find a 8 lug Dana 44 or 8 lug Dana 60 front and there you now have a K20. But the frame is probably .015 thicker and rails may be 1/8 wider. Seems to be the case on the Burb anyway.
