The hose with the tape on it appears to be the PCV valve, and I think you would want to keep that. Not much help on the wiring, I'd be lost if I didn't label everything too. I have an 85 that I would like to convert to LS power but the cost may keep me from moving forward.

Found out the hose in question is the breather hose

Can I cap this off or do I need it? If I need it I am screwed because I cut the piece off from the original intake that it plugged into....

On a side note, my harness is done and will be here at the end of next week, be ready

Just unplug that hose from the valve cover and cap it off...or put a breather on it...

Sorry for the late post for thoes that are following. I had some monor hickups on receiving my harness but I did get it yesterday so I will be working on it tonight. Does anyone know where to get an easy to install fuel pump realy?

John4518, I didn't think about putting a breather on it, good idea thanks!

So....hopefully I will have most of it done tonight and I will have pics, the worst part about this is waiting for parts!! Oh, and not knowing exactly what I am doing.....but I;m doing it!!

Ok Got the fuel tanks, fuel filter, fittings installed and hooked up to the engine so that's good...

Wiring harness on, engine cranks but does not start, that's bad....

Don't worry, this is just a mock-up to make sure it runs, I will clean it up

For some reason I can't get the 30 amp fuel pump relay to switch on and run the fuel pump, it is getting 12 V's but the relay just wont click on.

One theory for this is the fuse box 150tunes put on the wiring harness has a bolt and nut on it with nothing attached, I put a ground wire to it and nothing changed, I am thinking it might need a power wire to it but I am awaiting 150tunes reply to my email before I run power to it....

That needs to be a positive at that stud. That would supply you the power to all the devices attached. I am using the same one.

SUCCESS!!! I hooked a half hot to the fuse box, hooked the 30 amp relay up the way I had it, installed MAF, turned the key half way and everything turned on so I proceeded to turn the ignition and BAM!!! it fired right up!! YES!!!

Now I just need to install my radiator fan I will be getting tomorrow and button up all the wiring, install drive shaft and I will be ready to drive to the muffler shop!!

thanks for all the help and patience everyone, I will post video when done and probably do a better write up.

Oh damn, this thread just got my sticker to peck out !!! :manos: About time to see a 6L80-E going into a Squarebody. I knew it wouldn't be long.

Quite an interesting transmission. I don't know that most are aware, but it doesn't have a 1 to 1 ratio. It's got a super low 1st, in the 4's, and then 2 overdrives. Can't wait to see how this turns out, and what kind of mpg you get. I'm hoping you have 3.73 - 4.10 rear gears to take advantage of the dual OD's. Actually, with the low 4.xx first gear, even 3.42's would be pretty damn good too and that motor should be cruising real low rpms at 70mph.

How in the hell did I miss this thread??? :shrug: This is badass !!!

This writeup is going to be a godsend. I'm going to look at an '03 6.0/4L80E tonight. It's still in a wrecked truck(side-swiped) with 60k on it. If it checks out OK, it will be mine. So much for the original intent of keeping totally stock looking under the hood....So time to go all out. Plan to get it installed/wired/BS/etc as-is to shake it down, rock it for a while, then add a single 88mm....the true intent of going fuelie. Will still rock the stock 'style' single exhaust, and maybe a cherry bomb, with purposely installed exhaust leak.

****!!! Got everything hooked up, started, pulled out of my garage, stopped, put in park and now it wont go into gear???? the Shifter moves but the gears wont engage??? WTF!!! SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!! anyone have any ideas??

Ok, a few thoughts. I don't have my O2 sensors hooked up, would this put it in limp mode? I was told it should still run without them is this not true? The other thing was the throttle response was super lagging, I would press the peddle and nothing then a little rev. My thinking on this was I only had 1 gallon in the tank and when I move out of the garage to the slope on my driveway all the gas went forward to where the fuel pump might not be getting a lot of gas to it.

What do you all think?

Sounds like your having some electrical issues. Between your shifting and throttle problems, you may want to investigate what "take-home mode" does on that combo. Depending on the year/make etc I have seen take-home do everything from almost complete engine shutdown to no effect at all. You have to be careful with these electronic engines/transmissions, they are very finicky and can react badly to changes in their systems. I would verify your electronics and make sure you have EVERYTHING hooked up correctly BEFORE you start/drive. The OE designed the engine/tranny to be run with ALL sensors hooked up AND working correctly, so start from there then work backwards if you want to remove stuff.

And from what I have seen any multi-O2 system gets VERY VERY ANGRY when 1 or more O2 sensors is not working correctly, so I would highly recommend you hook them suckers up or you may cause more problems! (likely your throttle response problem, the engine has no idea what it's fuel mixture is!!!!)

I had the PCM made for stand alone and he supposedly deleted the rear two O2 sensors. I had teh PCM redone but not the transmission computer redone because I was going to take it back to the tunning place and have him do it when it was running, could this be the problem?
