Bought an '87 long bed on Bring a Trailer a few days ago

It concerns me that the Carfax doesn't list mileage more often. Sure looks like it is accurate, but when it says "shown", who knows. Here in PA, the milage gets reported every time the registration is renewed.

I feel you. Have done the same (a few times) on muscle cars. Either because I got carried away with a vision of how I had to have it or bought a shiny turd that the seller deceived me on. Oh well, live and learn. If you enjoy the process or at least the finished product then it takes the sting out.

In GA you just provide whats on the odo. I said mine may be 52, 152, or 252 lol and they said we put whatever is on the odo. So 52k it goes on the paperwork.

Carfax is a joke really. Yeah it's useful to see things in the vehicles' history, but that's only IF it was reported. And that's a really big IF. There's a lot of cars and trucks out there with a "clean" history, but would have been totalled if they weren't repaired privately.

Exactly. I always chuckle at anyone that tries to use CarFax or KBB in car negotiations. Yes they're tools, but they are wildly inaccurate, especially the older the vehicle
