Best way to transport 19 55 gallon barrels?

The drums are 24 inch diameter. The plot thickens a little, I looked at my square bed and measured it,not sure what bed you are using. You will need 48 inches between the wheel wells and at least 9 foot of length that would have end barrels hanging over 1ft you could gain some length by putting down a piece of plywood 1st, but if you only have 4.5 foot of bed to work with I think you are going to have to remove the tool box.learn to tie a hay hauler hitch so you can lash off a bunch of times,and those tie offs are crazy tight,like compound bow string tight.

can you crunch the math on if i use my gmt800 which is the 6.5 tailgate down with toolbox, and then my trailer which is 10 ft tailgate down, but can only stack 1 high on top of the vertical in the very front (because of the tapered part)

I suppose it would probably only fit 1 high laying down in the entire trailer, right? If so.. maybe thats my play, so I can have those secured by being out of the elements and enclosed, and the ones on the truck wont be so ... tall

I'll do the math in a minute got you a link to a hay hauler hitch, I don't tie it off the same I pull the tail back to a secure point and tie the tail to some thing to maintain tension.But you'll get the idea. I should install a stake pocket thing unless the front stake pockets have a opening like the rears do

You can do 4 standing up with three on top in the truck that's 4 bottom upright 2 sideways on top 1 on top of that 2 upright on top of the tool box. That's 9. 10 standing up in the trailer that's 19. I'll get the spice bottles back out,pics soon.

You have a car hauler with a full deck, why not just take that? No need to remove tool boxes, camper shells, etc.
No matter what you do they’ll have to be tied down well. Make 2 rows stacked transverse on the flatbed. Like firewood. Could strap the whole load with 2 straps theoretically.
And zero barrels need to ride in the truck bed or shotgun in the cab.

I am not opposed to it, I was just worried if that was going to be some special consideration for securing the load

And that trailer has like 2 bags of mulch on it, so not at all hard to get ready. To stack them like firewood, youre saying to make little hills out of of them in 2 columns the length of the trailer, then use single straps up and over to hold down?

No, i need trash cans. (I think i will be more organized if i have a trash can nearby more often) and I also need more places for motor oil. Im at 100 gallons and I have bought a few drain pans to avoid dumping them out, i nee capacity. And no im not recylcling

Are you sure those are 55 gal? It looks like they might be the smaller, 30 gal units?

They do make great trash cans. I cut the tops off, but around the inside of the top flange, so it leaves some beef up there. Then I cut a couple hand holes, about 6" down from the top. To make the hand holes, I use a hole saw and connect them with a little buzz saw which makes a nice oval slot.

I brought home 10 or 12 of the 30 gal drums to use as trash cans. The price was $0

Go to the restaurant supply store and get a roll of that 4mil or thicker clear wrap that is like 2' wide. Set barrels on flatbed, wrap up and strap down. Could sandwich with plywood....

they may be, if so that helps my visual representation, i guess i havent been near them and my only reference is a full 55gallon steel drum from memory

I see we have similar ideas on the matter. I have like ... 3? 1 black, 2 blue that are already cut (cut where they are not cicular like waterpirate said

no advice on stacking or transport. However Capt. obvious says if using the plastic barrels for garbage you need to cut the top off inside the the rigid ring. if not they deform and flop all over the place. Ask me how I know? lol I cut my first batch the wrong way.

They kinda make a more oval opening like that, but one is better than the other 2. I have 2 carboard barrels which are nice for trash too, they lift easier and all that, but i dont want to throw anything with liquids away in them better for my swept up trash / floor dry type deal, packages, paper, cardboard

only person I got who could do that is my dad but he works at that time, not a big deal tho.
