I have a 1977 Chevy k20 and was planning on going with a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires, just wondering what the best all terrain tire would be, and would like to see some pics of them

I've always gotten decent wear and mileage from BFG ATs and Bridgestone Desert Duellers. I've heard GeoTrackers are good as well.

I have Dick Cepek Trail Country EXPs and like them a lot so far. Haven't put them through much of anything off the pavement (and no snow yet), but they ride nicely on the highway. I looked really hard at the Falkens, but got these around $164 each (35x12.50R15).

I looked at getting those for my '08 2500 before I settled on some bargain Hercules tires because I don't give a **** about that truck lol. But the tires you have seemed like the perfect blend of mud tire and highway rather than your average all terrain turf-saver type tire. I liked how knobby the outer rib was to dig through harsh terrain, but the inner rib is nice and straight so it can still go good on the highway.

Looks like your tire guy messed up though, go back there and tell him to put those whites out ;)

For my square personally I have a set of General Grabber AT2's. They have almost an identical tread pattern to the BFG AT's, but at like half the price. They are also similarly rated for wear, and one of the offroad mags said it actually performed slightly better than the BFG. Only drawback was that they were only white outline instead of big chunky raised white letter, but I decided the savings were worth it. Thgen a couple months later I discover the Generals now come in full raised white letter. So unless you really want that BFG name on your sidewall and are willing to pay several hundred dollars more just to have it, I don't see why anyone would actually buy the BFG over the General. Generals used to be considered a cheap **** tire, but have come a long way. I have had two sets of them on my 'Burb (31s and my current 33s) and I couldn't be happier with them. I got over 30k out of the 31s before I hit a ***** of angle iron in the road and blew one out, then decided the rest were close enough that I might as well replace them all, especially since the 31s were looking silly after the lift

Yeah, they're a "tweener" tire that tries to be AT & MT, but not as aggressive as maybe a Duratrac. I'm really liking the road manners on them so far. The guys at the tire shop gave me the business about not putting the letters out. I had them out on my 4Runner once, and just didn't like it.
The Generals are another one I really looked at, along with the Falkens. The ATX looks really good, but couldn't wrap my mind around them at roughly $235 each for the 35x12.50R15 (vs. the $164 I paid).

They're still kinda out with all that lift. ;)

Thanks for the input, I currently have a set of Firestone Destination A/T on mine but I haven’t put them to the test yet, has anyone ever used them?

I went with them on my F150 and I am very content with them, I got 15 inch. Rides smooth, quiet, definitely better than the junk Goodyear Wrangler Radials.... and decent reviews all for a lower price.

@AuroraGirl those look great. I've read they are pretty aggressive (deep tread) for an A/T tire while still having good road manors as well as 60k mile wattanties. Will definitely be my next set.

I've ran both BFG AT and MT AT. No complaints except for the price.
Would pick BFG between the two.

Yeah, the tire when new was nice and bouncey (i put my tires to a bounce test before I mount them. if they hit the ground and thud with no hop, its too old)
Its not an LT rated tire tho, its a heavy P rated tire. Depending on your expected use you may need to move up to LT C or D load range. My truck does see some work, but I dont stress it with a lot of tongue weight or go past 1000lb in the bed.
Very quiet, and the truck tracks nicely. Tires arent pulling the truck around the road. I dont know what 4 all the way around would be like, however. I have cheap walmart HT tires in the front. 2wd.
