Been fixing up the old girl. First door panels, now the dash. My dash was purple... horrendous purple... didn’t match anything. So this evening, I pulled it out of the truck. I noticed that someone wrapped the dash in fleece, then spray painted it purple. There was no foam on this dash, someone took all the foam out and put a thin layer of padding, then purple fleece over top. Seeing this, I felt hopeless because there was no pad for me to fix the vinyl on and repaint, but I and went to Walmart for inspiration. I found a stretchy low profile Swede for a little less than $6 a yard that I really liked the color of. I ended up wrapping it very, very tight overtop of the purple since it was still in good shape, just some wrinkles and UGLY.
Best $6 I’ve ever spent.... I bought some glue sticks to have on hand, as well as some extra material for future projects, but the material to recover was about $6 for this project and a handful of glue sticks.
Before...
Wrapped it over the edge and used Gorilla hot glue.
Now I got all the fabric stretched. Now time for the cutouts.
