I bought a pair of oem bed rails that have been cut down to to 50ish inches. I didn’t know they had been cut or I wouldn’t have bought them. Anyway, has anyone ever seen a short bed with a tool box and shorter bed rails on it? Curious to how it would look

I have a similar rack/bed rail setup. PO used to have a toolbox. I dont have it, but that's what it looks like.

I think I know exactly what it would look like... Not something I would have done but the truck was set up like this when I bought it. Everyone says to keep it this way but I am not sure.

Mine measure exactly 48 inches at the longest point if that helps you.

Do yours look like the original fake woodgrain? Are they in decent shape? I am looking for some that are in better shape than mine.

Thanks. It sort of reminds me of a girl I used to date. She looked good from far...but up close she looked far from good.

As long as I don't get the camera too close and don't get too much light the old truck looks okay. I won't lie though, I really, really, really like the Old Truck.

"Good looking from a far, but far from good looking" is the saying. That's what I say about all my trucks.

I'd say yours is way better looking than youd think it does, or you got a way better camera, haha.

@Redfish Man, that looks better than expected! The rails you have look a lot stronger and durable than the old 1” rails. Might have to look into those. Need a tool box to see how it would really look. Mine are the oem rails that appear to be painted previously but will clean up and polish pretty easily. The woodgrain is easy to find online as well. Not sure about them yet tho

@Joshua Keith I'll see if I can get a picture up loaded to this thread, I'm at work and not at my normal computer for the day, so I don't have my pics handy, I'll check my phone.

So my truck is a long bed and I have rails, and I have a tool box. My tool box sits inside of the rails, so my rails are complete long bed rails. I'm just saying if you don't already have a tool box that want to use there are boxes that fit inside the rails. The trade off is you'll have legs on the box that go to the floor of your bed. Mine is suppose to be bolted to the floor of the bed, but I installed turn buckles on the sides that link into the stake pockets, so my tool box can be quickly removed when I need to use the entire bed.

without modifying my rails which are apart of the headache rack too, I would not be able to set the toolbox to the right height

And considering thats likely all that is holding my bed together : ) I cant try

I have no idea how hard it would be to find one new or if anyone makes that style new. I bought this one at a garage sale in the late 90's, I was going to give it to a friend that I thought would like it, but he didn't want it. It sat behind my chicken coop with tools in it for more than a decade. After I bought the square I wanted somewhere to be able to put a few things where it would be dry so I cleaned that thing up. At one time I was trying to find new legs for it and googled the manufacture and they were still around a few years ago, but no longer made the style I have with the legs. Now today their website is dead. It's a contigo tuffbox. I've seen them on E-bay plenty of times as I considered buying a replacement at one point. What happened was I loaded a big tall load of pallets on the truck and stacked them up over the box and one of the legs broke, so I ended up just making my own out of 2X4's and painting them black. Anyhow I like the box.

I got mine at auction for 5$
I bet if ylou search for plastic truck toolbox you will see them
Does your plastic tool box, not the one in your square but the one behind your shed (I thought at one time you said you had one somewhere) does it have legs?

The reason I ask, from the best of my memory from previously trying to find legs for mine, I think the Contigo Tuffbox, the original which is the one I have, I think I & II had legs and III, IV & V were over the rail. Regardelss I know the last few releases were over the rail hence the reason I could not get parts from the manufacture.
