Got the flatbar welded in, here's a couple pics . All that's left is a little grinding if the welds and paint. I also put some spring latches on it to lock the bed cover, I have an idea for a tailgate lock but not sure if it'll work.
Thanks john, after the spring latches and gas lift supports I have 230 bucks into it. I still have paint and finish to do but should be fairly cheap. I'm going to attempt to put the auto door locks from the suburban in place of the latches. That way if you lock your truck it'll lock the bed. Just saw this done on a family members tool boxes on his welding truck. Pretty slick.
Added an actuator from my parts burb to my homemade bed cover. It locks and unlocks bedcover and tailgate when you lock the doors with either the switch or the key fob remote.
First find an actuator. Taking the one from the parts burb made it easy as the wires were the same colors when looking under the dash. I added about 15 ft of wire to each side of the plug to run down the bed and into the cab.
